Is covered in your toil. Were it right
To vote for “greatest effort,” I’d concede
He might well be the winner, but I know
That effort, though impressive, is for show,
And though his running surely makes him bleed,
He cannot quit, though winning’s out of range,
To prove that losing wouldn’t make him change.
